The functions and types of laboratory fume hoods

1. Core function: It is primarily used to exhaust harmful gases, prevent pollutants from spreading into the laboratory during experiments, and ensure the safety of users.

Exhaust and Isolation: The harmful gases, odors, and flammable and explosive substances generated inside the cabinet are expelled through the exhaust system, while the interior and exterior are isolated through the glass window.

Backflow prevention and wind speed control: It features a backflow prevention function to ensure that airflow does not reverse and enter the room. The wind speed at the general operating port is controlled at 0.4-0.6m/s. ‌

2. Common types: Depending on the exhaust air method and structure, there are various types to accommodate different experimental needs.

Fully exhaust type: Indoor air enters, circulates inside the cabinet, and is then exhausted outdoors. This type is the most widely used.

Make-up air type and variable air volume type: The make-up air type takes make-up air from the outside to save energy consumption, while the variable air volume type can automatically adjust the exhaust air volume, suitable for applications with high precision requirements.

Clean Air Type and Smart Type: The Clean Air Type does not require connecting to a pipeline and circulates internally through a filtration system; the Smart Type is equipped with sensors and an alarm system, allowing for automatic adjustment of air volume.

Structural classification: including floor-standing, table-top, integrated, etc., with a common cabinet width of 1000-2000mm.
